I used to work at a lake marina, and I remember the geese would usually keep their young hidden until they started to mature. Usually when they started getting their adult feathers. So one day it would be all older geese, then out of nowhere there would be a bunch of smaller, very odd looking geese.
Yeah, they are definitely a nuisance. We would have to have the parks crew come out and hose the goose crap off the entire area daily. The county has a small hunting party come out bi-annually to "clean up" the numbers. Other wise they just take over the place.
