Definitely worth reading and watching. Oh, and where is the link button?

  • Quite interesting equipment. It reminds me of an electric train with different stations to pickup processes on a wafer, test to see if the process succeeded, and move it on to the next processing station. The VP in charge kind of spoke in the general terms that engineers use. Here is a wafer foop that was dropped off by an SRC-320 and here is a newer SRC-350 picking it up and moving it through a simulation. What's a foop? It sure takes a lot of software - and the associated debugging to make this world work. I hope the software that does the simulations does it's part well. If you start with simulations that don't simulate accurately, all the rest of the processing won't be right. And, there will be errors in the manufacturing that will be found after the manufacturing is done - remember the early Sandy Bridge. There are many assumptions that are made and found to be wrong way after the fact. This stuff is impressive in it's scale and uniformity. We have to remember that it is still all run by us humans - who can still make errors.

What will these systems be making? What nanometer resolution can they achieve? What does it cost?
