Office Pro 2003

Okay, what exactly did I buy here? I recently purchased a software CD with a pristine copy of Office 2003 Professional on it, still in the sleeve with not so much as a dust spec on the disc, and the full software key is on the sleeve. I picked up this little gem at a thrift store for 25 cents.

Printed on the disc is some heavy deterrent type language stating that it was not intended for retail or OEM distribution, and that use of the software was illegal without a separate license from Microbrains.

So, since I have the software key, is this software going to install ok? And once it is installed is it going to demand online registration? and is it going to harass me relentlessly until I do register it?

The key is on a factory produced "sticky", just like when you buy the thing new.

I'm guessing if you install it and it "works" with the key that came with it, you'll have no problem. You don't have to register Office products. Bottom line, Micro$oft will prolly not care one way or the other since the program is at the end of it's life cycle. 2007 has come and gone, we're at Office 2010 now. They prolly wont even update 2003 in the near future, however I'm still getting updates for my 2003 Office crap.

m also thinking that a lot of that space might be taken up by the "system restore" functionality. Afterall, it preserves a copy of everything I delete, even after I empty the recycle bin, doesn't it? Just in case I want to restore later?
