I really like this awesome place a few miles down the road called Papa Lappa's, the owner and his wife make the BEST sandwiches. Way better than anything Subway or Jimmy Johns could ever dream of making.
I probably should have included Quiznos AND Penn Station in the list of contenders.
For Quiznos, I like their Angus beef sub, it's like their uber premium product so you pay thru the nose, but it's good
For Jimmy Johns, their "Gargantuan" is probably my all around favorite right now
But Subway, right now they are running their "$5 footlong" promotion, ...ANY standard 12" sub is only $5, including the club. Normally the Club is considered a premium sandwich but it's included in the current promo, saving a cool $2.75 per sandwich.
So, in terms of bang 4 the buck, it's hard to beat a 12" Subway club right now.
They are also having an introductory offer on their new pizza product called "Flatizza", 2 pizzas for $5.00. Served hot, plenty of cheese, and in a box. I get the pepperoni, and then have them add sandwich trimmings (onion, green pepper, black olives)
If you get a flatizza, make sure they top it off with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, it makes all the difference in the world.
That promotion's jingle is in desperate need of a remix or overhaul or something. It used to be catchy but now several years and hundreds/thousands of commercials later with no change to the jingle it's gotten so old.
While we're on the subject of fast-food-that-isn't-burgers, anyone have a favorite fast food pizza joint?
I recommend Dominos' pan pizza. I tried it a few weeks ago and I really liked it. They use a different cheese and sauce I think, and also the crust is thicker. Good stuff.
