Looking at Jays rivals I can only think of Detroit and Oakland. (The Expos were a rival simply because of their location but of course they're long gone.) The Jays have a "manufactured" rivalry with the teams in the AL East simply because of the number of games they play against each other and the playoff implications, but a true rivalry can't be one-way. Everyone hates the Yankees, but the Yankees don't "get up" for a game against the Blue Jays. Neither do the Red Sox. The Jays are just another team. So while Jays management would probably like a rivalry to exist there, the teams in question are never peaking at the same time and thus it's like two ships passing in the night.
Looking at the Jays playoff history, it's hard to imagine anything special existing between the Jays and Braves or Jays and Phillies - especially today. A once in a lifetime World Series matchup between teams that otherwise have no connection does not make for a rivalry.
OK, I get it. He just rented some space. Still, he got in touch with us all. He did the organizing of the website. It's too bad that he's lost interest in his creation. We need more dancing girls ...
I was reading about how the Rockefellers donated the land that the UN building sits on in NYC, and how they hoped to spawn (through the UN) a nuform of civilization that sounded a lot like Cng's "stateless" society...
Of course the Rockefellers envisioned themselves at the pinnacle, calling the shots for the rest of us, which is the one reality that I feel Cng seems to overlook with his claims that "many others support this concept'
Just about all of those plans somehow seek to negate the powers not subordinate to them.
Yeah, I guess it's a way to spend an afternoon. The sound of the engines revving can be exhilarating. But, cheering for some guy going 200 mph in a car doesn't really give him much feedback. He's busy keeping the car straight in the groove. The cheering is really for the others in the stands who are cheering for the other guy. It's just a form of competition about which team/guy is the "best." There's always a winner and a loser - maybe a bunch of losers. Does this really affect you? If you missed the big race last week, would you go away to Florida and cry? All of these 'events' are just a show, with big loudspeakers, keeping track of all the statistics and making comparisons with what happened last year. You get to pay the entrance fee, the cost of the brew, the hot dogs, and the posters and paraphanalia to support your team. I wonder if your team, or your driver, really gets any benefit from the sale of these items? Maybe the show is a business, with ads on the radio and the paper, to get you to come and watch your hero win the cup. We get indoctrinated by having school spirit pep rallys and having the band play when the team makes a touchdown. The school does a lot better if the alumni have something to get excited about. So, they hire the expensive coaches - at the cost of not having better academic teachers - to get the team to win. It gives the locals something to talk about at the Kiwanis meeting. They contribute real money for getting the Nautilus machines into the high school. Yeah, makes sense. We need that new stadium.
