I forget now, do you park it in the driveway or on the street? I remember that thread you made a year or two ago.
Anyway, if it's in the driveway, you might also consider strategically mounting a bullet security camera (even a fake, but a real one would obviously be better) so that when the motion light goes off and the bad guy instinctively looks towards the light, the light is also lighting up the camera well so they can see it.
Of course, there are pros and cons to having visible security cameras. One con is that to those who see it in the daytime, it suggests you've got something worth taking, but I guess your sport car already suggests that.
If you're worried about it being stolen rather than just broken into / vandalized, you might also look into LoJack. Apparently it's a one-time cost of $695, they've got a 90% recovery rate, and you can save on insurance too: http://www.lojack.com/Customer-Service/Stolen-Vehicle-Recovery/FAQs#q23
If it really does just cost $695 and there's no monthly fee or whatever, that might be cheaper (and perhaps more effective too) than the gate/barricade idea.
Simple solution is an inline switch for the gas lone from the tank to the engine. A rocker switch hidden under the dash would turn of the gas. If someone steals the car, there's enough gas in the line to drive maybe a block then it sputters to a stop.

Was there any damage? Also, hopefully they just stole gas and didn't pour anything in there like sand or sugar or something.

Sounds like maybe it could be risky/a source of issues though?
