And even if it did... do you REALLY want to be ingesting:
1) Lighter fluid 2) Charcoal particulates 3) Smoke particulates 4) Whatever noxious chemicals that result from the burning of charcoal.
(In contrast, while burning propane isn't 100% clean either, I do think in comparison it's far cleaner. Haven't researched it extensively though.)
I will say though that charcoal grills smoking do smell pretty darn good.
I can't honestly give my opinion on whether or not it makes it taste better though because I haven't really paid attention to how my burgers or dogs have been grilled, and even if I had, it would've been too far in between to remember, and that's if I was trying to compare the two in the first place. One of these days I'll have to do a Pepsi vs. Coke side by side test, but for a propane vs. charcoal cooked burger instead.
I will say if I had to give an answer, I would say I do think charcoal enhances the flavor a bit. But that may just be bias based on what everyone else always says (charcoal is way better!), plus the added charm of charcoal (there are more steps involved, it's much less technologically advanced, it takes more time, etc.)
I've been thinking about getting one of those inexpensive little propane grills they sell on Amazon that are pretty highly rated, but I dunno. I try not to eat too much meat and when I do, I actually kinda like cooking on the stovetop. I can cook at a lower temperature and it's just so much easier (all around), and cheaper.
I really don't car3 for any fast food burgers.. but there's a few bars/grills around that have great burgers.
Nick's tavern in Lemont, IL not far from where I lived in Lockport has the Nick's Burger.. one pound of goodness on a huge bun, i order it with slim cut raw onions, mustard, catsup and cheese please, bag of chips (no fries)
Illinois Bar & Grill in Chicago : 3/4 lbs, fries or onion rings..
Jesse's in Chicago Ridge : great soup, burgers, 1lb and half pounders, about 5 different kinds. Fries, rings, chips
