I'd only be able to access these roots when the stream is dry. That would be late August/early September. It would be at the height of fire season. The vegetation is just waiting for a spark. The Telegraph Fire was started by someone near the Merced River using incendiary rounds while target shooting. Gasoline might work. But, there might be a price to pay.
