I had Zonealarm full package (I only wanted the firewall), because it insisted that I take the whole package. But since (on the install process) it couldn't disable microsoft anti-virus by itself only Zonealarm's firewall was active, and thereafter it bitched constantly because my system "was not fully protected" unless I disabled the other AV and let Zonealarm have my whole system.
Zone alarm did a lot of other shit I was not pleased with, like change my default search engine and home page in my browsers to their ad ware, and no matter how many times I corrected this, it still changed them back whenever I rebooted.
And even after uninstalling Zone alarm I still have directories here and there from Checkpoint software that won't allow me to remove them, they claim I need administrator privilege to remove them, even though I'm logged on as admin all the while they are telling me this. I'm going to have to go through and see if they are playing some game with attributes (read only) behind the scenes, and are just claiming "admin privilege is required" with some stupid script, to discourage those who would uninstall their crapware.
So anyway,.. no, I didn't have the Zone alarm full package active on my machine.
And I only got Comodo's firewall, not the complete suite.
I'm going from memory, because I'm not near the lappy right now, but check your machine under C:\users\yourusername\appdata and see if you have a "conduit" subdirectory.
i might have to correct that later, but I THINK that's where it's hidden.
Here's another funny thing, lots of people claim that Malwarebytes is so good. As a secondary line of defense. So I installed it, and thereafter it kept bugging me about my profiles being 150 days out of date.
So, I decided to let the program update itself, and as soon as I did... the program started telling me that my free trial period had expired, that protection services were shutting down, and that I needed to subscribe (pay) if I wanted to get safe AGAIN ?
I had this installed about a week before allowing the update.
I would be pretty surprised if, without that Clickpoint/whatever app running (which, it shouldn't seeing that you got rid of ZoneAlarm right?), Windows Explorer doesn't let you delete those directories. If it requires administrator privileges to delete, Windows Explorer should ask you for permission to delete it as previously mentioned.
Which I've used successfully logged on as administrator in many other instances,..... however in this instance, instead of a successful deletion, I am given the following:
Well, I gotta admit, my system is much more stable with all the add-on toolbar crap removed. Guess it's a perfect case for the old adage that just because something is free, doesn't mean you necessarily need it.
The "reliability" index of my machine was down to around 1.5-2.0 and most of that was due to failures by crap such as 'default tab search.exe and other noxious crap.
So, I combed out all the crap, anything even remotely tied to Conduit or any other browser add-on toolbar, and my reliability index is right up there near the top, and the trouble I had been having with flash hanging up my entire browser appears to be a thing of the past, as well.
I'm now thinking that instead of putting Linux onto a native hard drive, I'll just do an 8 GB thumbdrive with knoppix installed on it.

Either way, the first thing I see is this:
