I have a family of Coopers Hawks in an oak tree in front of my deck every summer. I sit on the deck watching them zip back and forth snatching the thrushes and starlings mid flight. I've even seen them swoop down and grab a chipmunk or field mouse every now and then.
It's the New Year. Time for new thoughts and goals.
1. Let's fix the economy, get rid of the corrupt banking system along with the do-nothing Congress in bed with them.
2. Let's stop polluting the world by burning hydrocarbons at such an excessive rate. How about solar, tide and wind, geo-thermal ways to get this done?
3. Rain forests need to be replanted so we could replace the carbon dioxide with oxygen. Is global warming something Gore made up to be president?
4. Let's tax marijuana, get rid of this new form of prohibition, and allow the growth of hemp which is a useful product in it's own right. The cartels, street gang warfare, and police are all funded by making marijuana such a valuable illegal commodity. Has any user decided not to smoke the stuff because it's deemed illegal? It might get the economy moving if we tax it.
We need to define the problems and look for some ways to do something positive instead of just accepting them and turning to another channel or website. De Nile is a river.
Happy Holiday thinking - then happy back to work - if you can find a job, that is ...
No matter how one says it, the economy has tanked and there are few jobs for all those unemployed. If the government just closed shop, there would be no unemployment money for those who are looking for those jobs. If the government just closed down, the Armed Forces people would also get the layoff - all the government bureaucracy would also get the layoff. Do you see where I'm going with this? We spend the money to keep a lot of people working, then we tax them. We also pay a lot of money to manufacture new technology - like the computer and Internet. There's a lot of things to consider before we just stop what we've been doing for quite a long time. I think the marijuana tax would jump start the California economy since it is the biggest cash crop in the State. Maybe we could get the Mafia for income tax evasion to stop prohibition.
