Pat, guess you witnessed first hand why I picked that username so many years ago. It non-descript and almost impossible to search for.
And for the record, i don't have any problems with beegd. I simply shared my opinion on a couple subjects and didn't see the need to get into a back and forth pissing match over it. I actually enjoy reading his viewpoint most of the time and i think we have a lot more in common than he knows.
A friend tipped me off that you made the replacement forum. I have to admit, when I realized the CPU forums were gone I was a little bummed to not have the ability to at least say goodbye to everyone!
Does anyone have TG's e-mail? I have his Hotmail address (starts with "cpu"), but I got that from him in mid-2008 so I'm wondering if it's old or not his primary address.
It would have been nice to have a wrap up week. At least you could have emailed those you wanted to say goodbye to. Maybe you should send an email to Chris Trumble and see if he will let you send an email blast to all of the CPU forum members.
Maybe they were scared we would hack the crap of the forum, that is why they kept it a secret.
In my opinion, their lack of communication is consistent with the management of the mag over the last few years.
We've seen the rapid decline in the communication from the actual staff members and writing staff as time wore on. This is just another great example of that. It would seem their opinions of their readers matter less and less. In the last few years there's been more ads and less content; some of the ads were a downright insult. Consequently I didn't renew my subscription last year.
It's a shame really. Part of the novelty to me was to see the writers and staff actually respond to comments on the forums. There was a time where we could actually see their reaction to feedback change the magazine. I'm afraid those days are long gone. :(
I really can't see them providing a link to this site. From a business standpoint it wouldn't be smart to link to a resource that appears to be CPU sponsored, but to not have any ownership/control of the resource.
By the way Lester has the same named account (lesterofpuppets) at bikeforums.net.
Nice to see other long time members back here... hopefully Jay, Techguy and yes, even BigD will join us again. I'm probably going to stay out of any politics, religious discussions though. I just want to relax :-)
I think the info they are putting in the magazine is already on the web anyway. It was nice to get the hard copy with all the glossy photos of that new motherboard for a few issues. I liked reading the predictions of how ATI will be coming up with a different GPU using DDR5 memory. Once I learned that there is such a thing as DDR5 memory, I could go and read about it in Wiki. Pretty much anything they have written in the magazine is on video on YouTube or in 10 blogs. We've all been educated how to educate ourselves.

That was it, no explanation, no nuttin.
