OK, you guys have convinced me. I'll go out and get armed and sit in my house all ready to shoot anyone that wants to rape my wife or bite my dog. That happens all the time. What a naive fool I've been. I'll just be sure to keep that information on my mind at all times. I'll be ready. Why waste time living so dangerously unprotected? Protection is where it's at.
If you catch your wife with someone else, there's an opportunity to use the Glock. Revenge is such a motivator to use guns. It's so stupidly called Murder 1.
Yeah, OJ wouldn't have considered doing anything if he knew that his victims were armed and dangerous. He was the smart one - a real survivor. He didn't need a gun, though. If only the victims were carrying bigger knives. Isn't he in jail at the moment?
Yep, it is unfortunate that people feel the need. I understand that one can develop fears after watching all the news on TV. I'm not saying violence doesn't happen. What I'm saying is that carrying a gun around with you to the beach in your glove box isn't going to stop any violence from happening. You only have a chance to stop some nut job if you've got the gun in your hand when he pulls out his Glock and starts firing. I'm also saying that the fears people have can easily be amplified by promoting shows like Human Target or Detroit 187 or Sopranos etc. If we just watch this kind of show, we develop a screwed up sense of reality. I admit, I watch Human Target. Most of the shows I watch include violence - they are mainly FOX shows. I don't think it's a conspiracy to promote gun sales. I think it appeals to the basic need for protection that we've concluded we all need. The problem is that it might work if you have the gun at home ready to shoot - but you also have little kids at home that could be interested in playing cops and robbers or army. Then it becomes a big liability.
The problem is that the cops are above the law. Also, the 4th amendment is so vague that it really doesn't provide much protection at all.
If /we/ can't do it without getting in trouble, then certainly, the "authorities" shouldn't be able to do it either without getting in trouble and allowing justice for the victims.
Is that just how it is down there, where they "jack" people up and handcuff them for no reason all the time? Or did they know you, or were you "provoking" them and acting highly suspicious, or what?
In LA, the police have what they call "active interdiction" , which basically means that unfounded suspicion, BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT agent, is just as good as 'probable cause'
I had an '84 eldorado at the time, which was a target car, and me and my buddies didn't look like evangelicals out trying to save pagans, so we were at peril anytime after 9 pm for any bored cop to try and "poach" an arrest. That's what the cops call it 'poaching'
Sitting cuffed in the back of the cruiser, we noticed when the searching cops shoulders started drooping, and I said to my buddy "they just figured out that theyv'e blown it"
