Commercials that I could do without
OK, some of you have commented on Geico's lust for advertising, there are a few others who seem to be going over board:
What about that goofy mime doing the sledgehammer work on the Century 21 insurance commercials? Somewhere in this country is a town whose TV station has lost it's weatherman. AND I have found him dodging golf balls with an umbrella.
And how about Michelle O'bama's ad for the Red Cross, isn't it a little late to be moon-eyeing for Haiti's suffering?
And just about all the web-telephone ads (Vonnage, Magic Jack, etc) need to be retired.
One other overdone ad has me wondering tho. That AARP insurance ad featuring the at home couple where the cupboard door falls off, is the "wife" in that ad none other than Marilu Henner?

He doesn't care what he's putting out there. He just laughs all the way to the bank. When we have any political campaign, those contributions
that go to your favorite politician, end up in Rupert's bank account.
The ads are just trying to get you to choose the company over their competition. The broadcasters put on shows that draw you in to see the commercials.
But, the basic idea is that Rupert has bought up a lot of companies and can decide whom to support or not support. Is that power or what?

Thanks for the dartboard. I don't hate old Rupert. I just think he has developed some power over what the media supports like Hearst did.
There are many powerful media giants that make a lot of money from politics and other stories that sell commercials.
It's all just a fact of life. I would just like to point out that these guys are around flexing their power.
All Life Insurence ads.
The 21st Century ones are bad.
I don't actually mind the Geico ones.
And I hate the ASPCA ones with a passion.
(Or perhaps I watch too much daytime TV)
