So, what's the point of this debate? If we listen to Knuckle, no gays would be allowed to adopt any kids because of their twisted morality. So, hetero types OF ANY SORT would be allowed to adopt? How about hetero criminals, or drug users, or alcoholics? Any couple must pass a testing process that makes sure that they are competent and able to afford it.
What about the single 15 year old who was raped by Dad? Is she allowed to NOT to have the baby because she has gay tendencies? All of these situations are not our business. There are many kids who would be happy to just have a place to sleep, some food, and a chance to go to public school - instead of living forever in the institution until some 'morally correct' couple comes for them. So many kids appear because of date-rape, or some situation where a girl was un-protected from all of us horny men at a party.
Maybe it's more about how we treat the woman as a receptacle for our fun instead of a human being with feelings and dreams. That is something we can change because it's about how we see women. I am certainly attracted to women. But, I try to keep my horny thoughts from getting me to think about anything other then her beauty.
Is it all about sex - only? Every child needs guidance from parents, schools, community, etc. It's not only about what the parents do in the bedroom. We did provide a Mom and a Dad for our kids as they grew up. I don't see what was missing from our friend who was brought up by a single mother a few doors down.
I grew up with my mother, occasional step-father - 5 years, then he died, and my grandparents. They were my mother's parents. My mother was never home because she was out working, or partying - trying to find a husband. There are so many things in life that affect the kid and the parents. I really don't think that the gay thing has very much to do with how the kid grows up. It depends a lot more about how functional a family he grows up in. That just depends on what kind of people the parents are - not whether gay or straight - more about loving or too busy with career to bother.
Whatever life-style the child grows up in, the feeling down there isn't going to just stop because of what your parents, baby-sitters, or community do. I think procreation isn't just going to stop because some people do other things. Some people like riding horses. Will this effect how many dog people get pets? It's just not that connected. It's illogical fear driving this conversation. The connection of gay parents convincing a kid in their home to be gay is ludicrous. He might have some thoughts about gayness. But, I think the straight sexual urge will stay the same in most kids. There is a chance that if his tendency was to be gay, being adopted by gays would help him deal with that. Straight adopting parents wouldn't do as well in that department.
